About Irina

I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher (Level 1), currently training for Level 2. Alongside teaching, I am also a professional photographer, a former application engineer, and a mum of twins.

I began my yoga journey in 2002 in Russia, attending yoga classes at a dance school. When I moved to the UK in 2010, I explored many different yoga styles, but it was Iyengar yoga that I truly fell in love with. I was drawn to its depth, precision, and the way each class feels unique, full of discovery and possibility.

I regularly attended Pilar Vigus’ classes at David Lloyd Sports Club, and in 2012 I joined the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Birmingham. There, I have been fortunate to study with, and continue learning from, inspiring local teachers including Andrew Hall, Jayne Orton, Julie Baker, and Prabhakara Peter Hannken. Alongside this, I continue to deepen my practice through workshops, travel, and learning from Iyengar teachers around the world, always returning with fresh insight and renewed inspiration.

In February 2016, I began the Introduction to Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training programme under Jayne Orton’s guidance. It was one of the most inspiring and formative experiences of my life. In June 2018, I successfully passed my assessment and began teaching soon after, with great gratitude for the opportunity to share this practice.

For me, yoga is both joyful and grounding. It brings balance, strength, and inner calm, while also offering challenge, freedom, and a fresh perspective. Like in Sirsasana, yoga teaches us to see the world differently, to step back, and to meet life with more clarity and resilience.

I feel very fortunate to share what I have learned, and I truly believe yoga is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in ourselves. I would love to welcome you to class.
