What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar yoga is a method developed by B.K.S. Iyengar, one of the most influential yoga teachers of the twentieth century. The practice is known for its precision, clarity, and deep respect for the intelligence of the body.
A central feature of Iyengar yoga is the use of props such as blocks, straps, and blankets. These tools support the body so that postures can be explored safely, with awareness and understanding rather than force.
Postures are often held for longer, allowing time to observe alignment, breath, and sensation. This approach builds strength and stability while also cultivating sensitivity, focus, and calm.
Iyengar yoga is suitable for all ages and levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. It is especially supportive for those recovering from injury, managing physical limitations, or returning to movement after a break.
How I Teach Iyengar Yoga
In my classes, Iyengar yoga is taught with care, patience, and individual attention. I work with small groups and private students so that each person feels supported and truly seen.
My focus is on clear guidance and steady progression, helping you develop confidence and trust in your own body. The practice is calm, thoughtful, and grounding, rather than rushed or performance-based.
I aim to create a space where you can move with curiosity, build strength gradually, and feel at ease in the process. Over time, the practice becomes not only physical, but also deeply supportive for everyday life.
Is Iyengar Yoga Right for You?
Iyengar yoga may be a good fit if you:
- prefer clear guidance and structure
- want to build strength and stability safely
- are returning to movement after a break or injury
- value depth and understanding over fast-paced flow
- enjoy a thoughtful, focused practice in small groups
No experience is required. What matters is curiosity and willingness to listen to your body.
